E-Kawayan Manufacturing | Things to do in Alaminos City-Pangasinan
|Address:||, Alaminos City, Pangasinan|
A farme is more than just a place to grow fruits and vegetables—it’s an entire lifestyle—especially when the word itself stands for “Farm Alaminos for a Rich Mother Earth). Despite being in their then-mid-50s, Tita Leilia and her husband left their cushy city jobs and moved back to her home province for the fresh air and to start a garden, which quickly evolved into the three-hectare intercrop organic farm it is today. From the sweetest exotic dragonfruit to common herbs used in everyday cooking, much is grown here, including melons, apples, bananas, rice, mongo and salad tomatoes. It’s an inspiring success story every way you look at it, and is a testament to the future of agri-farming—it’s already being used as a demo farm and Tita Leilia is already holding training sessions!
Bakawans or mangroves are the rainforests of the sea, and they are vital to maintaining a healthy and diverse seaside ecosystem. Enter the Mangrove Eco Park, where 8.17 hectares of prime land are dedicated to a mangrove nursery. There are already plans to build a maze for tourists through the park, but for now you can enjoy a river cruise and a friendly ecoguide who will take you on a tour throughout the nursery. Spend your day learning more about mangroves and the local wildlife, or put your hands to good use and volunteer to plant some!
Home to the Alaminos Tourist Center, Lucap Wharf is located at the heart of this bustling seaside municipality. The wharf serves as a jumping point for a Hundred Islands boat tour, which can easily be arranged through one of their friendly tourism officers. You can find restaurants and homestays along the road, but make sure to go for a walk through the plaza at night, especially during the holidays, when it's streetlights, decorations, giant Christmas tree, and various hawkers and vendors rival those of Manila's Roxas Boulevard.
