Rosales Municipal Hall
Attraction
0.68 km away

Quite frankly, the Presidencia Building – otherwise known as Rosales Municipal Hall, should’ve been the town’s most famous landmark instead of a modern shopping mall. It certainly deserves more recognition for not only is it the seat of local government, it is also a heritage gem bursting with old-world charm. Built in 1924, it is styled as an elegant colonial-era mansion with its wide capiz window panels and wooden floorboards. Its second level houses a mini-exhibit of several town memorabilia, which includes a head statue of Rosales’ famous son, national artist F. Sionil Jose. The small garden fronting the town hall features a statue that also dates back to pre-WWII days, while nearby attractions like St. Anthony of Padua Parish Church and the Unkown Soldiers’ Shrine at the roundabout likewise contribute to this area’s whole nostalgic feel.

St. Anthony of Padua Parish Church in Rosales was restored in 1915. The Church is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Urdaneta and started as a simple barung-barong with corrugated steel roofing and sawali walls. At present, the Church stands admirably with a lofty bell tower, a spacious ground, and a Parish rectory. Inside is a polished tiled interior that extends to a sanctuary filled with statues of St. Anthony, Mother Mary, and the crucifix. The façade is white concrete with high arched stained glass windows designed with sacred images, a cross, and a dove figure. St. Anthony of Padua Parish Church is a frequented place for Visita Iglesia. Devotees come here to reflect on Jesus' suffering and to pray the rosary.
