Fancying a brick house? Check out the town of Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan’s upcoming brick town. In the forefront of this realization is Loresco’s Bricks that started wayback 1983. It was the third brickmaker in town. Combining clay, soil, sand, and water, a carabao is used to step on the mixture to mash the ingredients together. After that, the mixture is poured manually on different kinds of molds. For sturdier “lario,” local term for brick, it is pressed. It is now ready for baking. Loresco’s Bricks commence with brick baking twice a year in a walk-in oven, made of layer upon layer of bricks. Still fancying a brick house? A 120 sqm bungalow house needs about 12,000 pieces of bricks for about P72,000 - that’s P6 for a single brick.
