Be amazed how a mushroom, an edible organic mushroom is delicately sowed with the use of dried leaves that just can be found in the backyard. Everybody knows mushrooms grow everywhere but achieving a specific kind, careful steps should be done. In a hidden backyard in Brgy Pias, Mapandan, Mang Ferdinand will show you, together with his friendly dog body guards will show you how they make mushrooms. First, dried banana leaves will be cut into pieces to make a bundle and dip into a barrel of water for an hour simultaneously laying it on the ground to make a bed that will be sowed with seedling or a mushroom spawn. After making a four-layer bed, it should be covered with plastic and later on with huge banana leaves to cover the whole mushroom ground. The mushrooms will be ready for harvest in about five days. For 30 years, Mang Ferdinand can usually collect 80 kilograms of mushrooms per harvest and sell it around 200 pesos per kilo.

Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag, a famous pilgrimage site of the North. Granted the title as Minor Basilica by Pope Francis last 2015. In the 1600s a farmer witnessed an apparition of Mama Mary asking the farmer to build a church on that hill where she appeared and to spread the news. Another miraculous event happened on the church was when a dead infant rose again after putting it on the altar. The church had withstand bombings during World War II and an earthquake in 1982. After three renovations, you will now see a rosary park, spacious candle gallery, and a Museum of the Minor Basilica which houses the replica and dresses she used on special occassions and a glass case of perfume that was donated by the devotees.

AGTALON (Agro-Technical Assistance and Livelihood Opportunities in the North) is a globally-recognized NGO that promotes sustainable agriculture and development. You can pass by the hub along National Highway on your way to Urdaneta City. It currently has a store where you can buy organic products and a small farm at the back that will be developed as a pick-and-pay farm. This year they are planning to have a kubo-type restaurant that will allow visitors to eat organic meals and try malunggay or chesa ice cream as desserts. The hub is open from Monday to Sunday.
