Pasima Bamboo Product Weaving
Attraction   1.54 km away

Seeing a kaing or bilao woven in front of you would make you think why it is a domestic product rather than a handicraft. The Philippines is blessed with many artisans and that include very skilled weavers. In Malasiqui, Pangasinan, Barangay Pasima is known to house bamboo-weavers. They make kaing (woven bamboo basket), bilao (woven bamboo tray), and drying beds. In Pasima, bamboo-weaving is a way of life. It is a family affair - the kids are assigned in weaving the basket’s base, while the mother finish the baskets. Kids aged eight start to help in weaving, while grandmothers also do their share of weaving. Seeing weavers work with bamboo sheets is almost magical as you understand how much effort and skills are needed to create a basket that would sell for only P10 to P12. Try weaving your own bamboo basket!

Their products are are consumed locally in Pangasinan and other provinces like Nueva Ecija, Cabanatuan City, and Ilocos. His son, currently, owns his own franchise of the business. Together, they have about 10 workers.
