In the western part of the salt capital of the Philippines—Pangasinan!—lies a majestic town that offers visitors a memorable cozy experience. Breathtaking Bani is a rising tourist destination as it holds both wonderful landscape and seascape attractions for wanderlusts and vacationers looking for a place to unwind. A five-hour drive from Manila, one can already reach the breathtaking paradise of Bani, Pangasinan.


What exactly are the must-see and must-experience things in this town? If you are ready to travel and love nature-tripping, we are recommending you these awesome things to try and best places to visit:

10. Busay Olanen

25 minutes away from the town proper plus a 30-minute trek to its drop point, an astonishing beauty of a 20-feet-high falls, Busay Olanen, will surely take your breath away. This wonder holds an inviting feeling with its natural pools for swimming and green hills for  trekking. Located in Olanen, Dacap Sur, this magnificent wonder is at its best from October to February when its cascading water is flowing to the full. 


In addition, one must prepare a P30 environmental fee which will be used for the maintenance of the area. Not bad for tourists who are wise-spenders!

9. Olanen Beach

25 minutes away from the town proper in Olanen, Dacap Sur, just like the aforementioned falls, another spectacular destination is Olanen Beach. The place keeps a pristine white sand beach and crystal clear water which can be enjoyed by young and adult vacationers. Summer time, from March to April, is the best season to see this splendor.

8. Bangrin MPA II

Located at Barangay San Miguel, this 42.27-hectare mangrove forest is an awesome destination for wildlife lovers. The place is a sanctuary to 122 species of migratory and local birds which are significant factors for the ecological balance of nature. Tourists will definitely enjoy the heron and wild duck avenues for bird watching as well as the mangrove tour. 


This place is a 15-minute drive away from the town proper to Pataga Fish Port. From there visitors need to rent a boat costing P1,500, good for 10 people, and prepare P30 per person for the environmental fee. December to February is the best time to visit the area.

7. Nalsoc Cave

Spelunking is also one of the rising hobbies for most of the Filipinos and even foreigners. Here in Bani lies Nalsoc Cave which is a class 2 cave system of 7 caves located at Barangay Colayo. Getting here takes 25 minutes from the town proper. 


1-2 hours spelunking tour is already a great moment to cherish an enjoyable vacation. Visitors would have to hire a tour guide for P500 per group of 4, and prepare P30 per person for the environmental fee. January to April is the best time to take this incredible experience.

6. Surip Beach

If you are into a peaceful beach adventure, you must see Surip Beach located in Barangay Centro Toma, a 25-minute drive away from the town proper. Its rocky feature contributes to its natural look and creates some natural pools good for snorkeling. 


Additionally, the place’s ambience is a perfect reason for camping and sunset viewing. Vacationers are strongly advised to set their itinerary from March to April as this is the best time to unwind in the place.

5. Surip’s Redeemer’s Cross

Just near Surip Beach, Surip’s Redeemer’s Cross is an ideal landmark to visit after an exciting fun-filled swim. There are 1,000 steps to finish along the many Stations of the Cross before reaching its peak view where the 15-foot-high Redeemer’s Cross is located. 


Facing the West Philippine Sea, this wonderful site is best for sunset viewing and sightseeing. Every Holy Week, pilgrims grace the spot for religious activities which is the best moment for visitation.

4. Alicupen Beach

For a totally survivor-like adventure, Alicupen Beach gives the thrill of staying at a remote beach. 25 minutes away from the town proper to its drop point in Olanen Cove, one can already experience this exciting beach hopping activity. Its sugar-like sand makes a perfect backdrop for social media posts and for a memorable camping experience. It is near Polipol Island and is great for snorkeling. Located at Barangay Colayo, this must-see place is best visited from March to April.

3. Pakwan Festival

Exploring the town of Bani will never be perfect without experiencing the grand celebration of Pakwan Festival which highlights the town’s main product, watermelon! 


This festivity is an affair to relish the abundant harvest and the continuous soaring of the municipality’s tourism growth. Pakwan Mass Slicing, Trade Fair, and the exciting Street Dancing are the anticipated events during this occasion. 


Celebrated at the town proper every last week of February, Pakwan Festival is truly an amusing gathering in the western part of Pangasinan.

2. Busay Calabeng

30 feet high above the ground, Busay Calabeng is definitely one of the best places in Bani to relax or loosen up. 


This waterfall is located at Barangay Calabeng just few minutes away from the town proper. In order to visit the area, one must trek for about 10 minutes. At the site of this magnificent wonder lies nature-made kiddy and adult pools which can be enjoyed for a good swim.


October to January is the best time to visit the area for a more satisfying nature view.

1. Polipol Island

On top of our list is a place where dauntless stunts and bewitching sceneries are combined for the most elating and enlivening trip and adventure in the municipality of Bani.

Polipol Island, just 5 minutes away from Alicupen Beach through motorboat ride, is a castaway-like place with beautiful cliffs and instagramable post-card backdrops. Visitors can do cliff-jumping as high as 15 feet and they can also do the sightseeing experience of the fossilized clams on top of the island.
