Powered by Explora, a travel website designer based in Manila, Pangasinan’s tourism website was formally logged in by Governor Amado “Pogi” I. Espino III and Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr. on December 6 during the 4th General Assembly and Tourism Forum of the Pangasinan Tourism Officers Association (PTOA) held at the Capitol Resort Hotel.

Founder and CEO of Explora, JR Felipe explains the mechanics of the website.
Governor Amado “Pogi” I. Espino III takes the platform.

Expressing his elation, Gov. Espino said that the project is a longtime dream of his father, former governor and now 5th District Representative Amado T. Espino, Jr. which is now being realized under his term. Praising the accomplishment of his father in terms of tourism development, wherein the Capitol became the benchmark of other LGUs from various parts of the country, the Governor admitted that he found it difficult to maintain the gains of the past administration. As such, he said his administration is doing its best to continue what was started.

The heads of the local government along with PTCA officer Ma. Luisa Elduayan lead the ceremonial signing up.

He likewise commended all tourism officers in the province for actively doing their share to promote local tourism which is pivotal in selling Pangasinan as one of the country’s best tourism destination. Aside from the support given by the local government executives, the Governor stressed that several programs and projects are underway to showcase Pangasinan tourism that include upgrading of facilities specifically those at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) and launching of an inter-basketball tournament. 35 towns have already registered to participate, he added.

The project was definitely a success, as seen on the faces of the members of Explora and the staff of the LGU.

“We are pushing on sports tourism dahil mismong kababayan natin ma-aappreciate ang ganda ng Pangasinan,” he said, noting that the best players will then be selected to form the team which will represent the province in basketball tournaments throughout the country. The selected players will also serve as sports and tourism ambassadors. Moreover, Vice Governor Calimlim encouraged Pangasinenses to help promote local tourism through the aid of social media as he cited that Pangasinan has many beautiful sites waiting to be explored.

PTCA Officer Ma. Luisa Elduayan entertains queries from the press.

Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Officer Ma. Luisa Elduayan, on the other hand, said that with the revived visitPangasinan.com website powered by Explora.ph, Pangasinan is now assured of higher influx of visitors in the coming days. The website enables people to connect with service providers and to the different destinations in the province. Furthermore, she stated that every town will have its own link.
